On this day in 2007, Everton paid Sheffield United £4m to sign centre-back Phil Jagielka on a four-year contract.
The now 34-year-old has since made 349 appearances for Everton in all competitions, scoring 18 times in the process during a 10-season spell with the Toffees.
The centre-back, who scored three times in 27 appearances last season, has also been capped 40 times by England, playing in Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup, during what has been a successful career at the highest level of football.
Jagielka has been strongly linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer, however, and the recent arrival of Michael Keane from Burnley suggests that the experienced defender will struggle for first-team football during the 2017-18 campaign.
The former Sheffield United youngster remains a hugely popular figure with the Everton supporters, however, and many took to social media site Twitter on Tuesday to hail the centre-back, who is celebrating his 10-year anniversary with the club.
