da doce: Dean Windass has exclusively told Football FanCast that Arsenal should sign Aaron Ramsdale and make him their number one goalkeeper.
da leao: Following Sheffield United’s relegation from the Premier League last season, the England shot-stopper has been strongly linked with an instant return to the top-flight.
With uncertainties over Bernd Leno’s position, Arsenal are considering launching a £30m bid to secure the services of the 23-year-old, who’s been relegated in each of the last two seasons.
Arsenal controversially let Emiliano Martinez leave for Aston Villa 12 months ago, which has proved a mistake following his excellent form for Dean Smith’s side.
German international Leno has been Mikel Arteta’s first-choice keeper during his 18 months as boss, but mistakes crept into his game last season, including a notable one for Richarlison’s winner in Everton’s win at the Emirates.
If Arsenal are successful in their attempts to sign 6 ft 2 Ramsdale, Windass reckons that the former AFC Wimbledon loanee should overtake Leno in the pecking order.
He told FFC:
“I do [think Ramsdale is good enough to come in and replace Leno]. Ramsdale has been outstanding. He would be a great signing and if he made him number one, he could be a revelation.”
