da dobrowin: Thomas Ince has received his first call-up to Stuart Pearce’s England Under-21 squad after impressive early-season performances for Blackpool.
da betcris: Ince, along with Leicester City defender Ben Marshall, is one of two players to get their first call-ups, and Pearce congratulated the players on forcing their way into the squad.
“The fact that we are only three league games into the domestic season makes selection difficult but within that time the likes of Thomas Ince and Ben Marshall have done extremely well to force their way into the squad”, he told the Guardian.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Butland have been left out, meaning they are both likely to feature in Roy Hodgson’s senior side for the opening World Cup Qualifiers.
But Steven Caulker and Jack Rodwell are back in Pearce’s squad after both players were included in the senior set-up for the friendly with Italy.
England are top of group eight ahead of matches away at Azerbaijan and a home encounter with Norway.
Six points from those two games will enable England to secure a play-off double header in October to earn a place in next summer’s Euro 2013 finals.
