Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela has been struggling with injury for the better part of a year.
The Argentine, who signed for the North London outfit from Roma in 2013, has not played competitively for 11 months due to hip problems.
Lamela’s absence frustrated the fans as the club failed to give a timeline on his recovery and the mysteriousness of his continued spell on the sidelines grew.
Towards the end of last season, Spurs revealed that the forward had been scheduled in for surgery on his left hip in April, and then he had an operation on his other hip just a month later.
Lamela reported back for pre-season training, but he is yet to join the rest of the group, and fans have begun wondering once again when the 25-year-old will be back in action.
According to the London Evening Standard, the club are confident that the attack-minded player will make a full recovery, but is not expected to be available for selection until the end of the year.
Lamela, who has played 62 Premier League games, was left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, but amendments can be made in 2018 after the group stages.
